Help me give my students increase their math skills by using Tiggly tools in conjunction with classroom iPads, sensory sand, and fidget items throughout the day.
Our School's Student Programs serve students with various challenges. Our students face communication, behavior, sensory, cognitive, and physical challenges daily. Many of our students are non-verbal students with Autism and other challenges, which require us to differentiate instruction. Although our students may struggle in some areas, it is glaringly apparent that they shine in a multitude of other ways.
Every kiddo in our class has their own unique learning style, and using certain technologies provides them with opportunities to learn new things in ways that suits them best.
Not a single day goes by that we don't celebrate student successes, big or small, as they are all important and worthy of celebration.
My Project
This school year we have been using Tiggly products with our classroom iPads to help students build their letter sound skills. This has been really successful. Tiggly offers math tools as well and we would like to begin to utilize those tools with students during station learning. Rather than just using their fingers to make choices, Tiggly offers specialized equipment that seamlessly works in tandem with the already purchased Apps and iPads, so students can "touch" math.
While students work at their individual stations, it helps them to have a small fidget (clay, sand, slime, etc) in their hands to help curb anxiety and improve their overall attention.
We are building "fidget" boxes that will help each student while they work at each station.
As many people can understand, small items tend to need to be replaced after continuous use. The sensory items we are requesting will allow us to initially build the fidget boxes and replace items throughout the rest of the school year.
