This is my fourth year teaching, my second year teaching Fourth grade Math and Science. Each day, I get to work with 42 amazing students who love learning as much as I do.
Being a teacher is more than just teaching-I am a nurse, a second parent, a counselor, a child's personal cheerleader, and more!
I can't have a bad day, because my students have enough going on in their lives already. I don't leave work at work, and I am not just talking about bringing papers home to grade. I sit at home thinking about them when I am with my family, or reading a book before bed. They are my "kids," and I can't imagine not knowing them. Seeing their smiling faces, their warm hugs, and their love for math makes teaching worthwhile. I would not want it any other way!
My Project
There are many pieces to the puzzle of a successful classroom. So many pieces of this puzzle are vital, however one of the most pertinent pieces to the puzzle is organization. An organized classroom is more than just putting things "where they go." Maintaining a physically organized environment goes hand in hand with effective classroom management, creating a positive learning environment, and the overall set-up of the classroom.
The physical set up of a classroom is important, because it is one of the first things a student, a student's family, and other adults see when they walk in a classroom.
It is not only important to keep a classroom "tidy," but to appropriately utilize the space as well.
In my classroom, I have student tables. The students do not have a personal space to keep their belongings, including their folder, important papers, writing utensils, etc. Having student mailboxes will help the students and I stay organized by providing the students with a place to put papers that need to go home. In addition, having table caddies will ensure that students have everything they need to be successful right at their fingertips! Dry erase boards, dry erase markers, gluesticks, scissors, highlighers, and pencils will be readily available for everyone to use!
