My Students

Save me from modeling writing on a transparency or on a gigantic piece of paper! Allow me the opportunity to model writing on a regular sheet of paper under a document camera. Allow me the ability to model the writing, reading and math clearly for all to see.

I teach a diverse class of 23 2nd graders in an elementary school.

Some come from military families, some adopted and a large portion are on free and reduced lunch. The students range from pre primer to 3rd grade reading level with the majority of them at the lower end of the spectrum. Most of the students are visual math learners and need the use of manipulatives to learn some of the math concepts.

My Project

With the document camera I will be able to edit students writing with the class or have a student edit their own writing. I will be able to model good writing skills on regular paper so they can see the entire writing process from beginning to end. I will be able to teach math better using manipulatives such as a ruler or paper clips and everyone will be able to see it altogether so when it is their turn to measure they know exactly what to do. I can also use the camera for shared reading and the students will be able to follow along with me and see the words as I model reading for them. Science experiments will be much more fun as kids watch me or other students measure liquids or mix different liquids together.

Donations to this project will be a great asset to our classroom not only because it incorporates technology into every subject but with the budget cuts in education it can truly help with making school paperless.

Being that we only get one box of paper for the year this would be a big help to the students.
