My preschoolers will be entering school for the very first time. Many do not speak English and live in a community that continues to be challenged with economic poverty, homelessness, health concerns, and low wages.
These curious young learners attend a community school that serves grades PreK to 5th.
There is a large population of students with disabilities and special needs as well as students new to the English language. All students receive free lunch. The students learn best through hands-on experiences that keep them engaged and promote discussion.
My preschoolers are growing up in a world where technology is advancing right before their eyes, however many of them have not had the experience of working directly on a computer or tablet.
Having tablets in our classroom will give my students the opportunity to explore a variety of developmentally appropriate preschool computer applications that will not only enhance their learning but add fun to our daily center time.
The children will be transformed into a whole new interactive medium. Tablets will be hands on and facilitate student independence. They will aid in providing differentiated instruction and serve to accommodate a variety of student learning styles.
My students will be so excited and thankful to have the opportunity to use tablets in school for learning and fun.
