My students need a variety of games to challenge them and teach lifelong skills including character building, counting, letter and number recognition, and more!
My kindergarten classroom is a place of learning, discovery, challenge, friendship, acceptance, and love! This energetic group of 5 and 6-year-old children challenge me every day, and I could not be more thankful! Many of them come from low-income homes. These students come to school, ready and happy; our classroom is their "second home." Our class treats each other as a family, with kindness, respect, manners and extreme gratitude.
My students are very energetic, creative and determined this year!
Their energy levels are contagious, and I thrive on their spunk. They come to school ready to soak as much knowledge into their brains as possible. I base my teaching on the quote "What we learn becomes a part of who we are." I want my students to embrace their learning, to own their education, and to be lifelong learners!
My Project
My students need ways to let their creative thinking skills come to life and learn they way they know how- through play! By using Legos, board games, card games, K'Nex, and other creative construction sets, students are able to build on other skills including counting, spelling, fine motor, gross motor, sequencing, letter identification, and addition and subtraction skills.
The skills gained from these kinesthetic learning methods create fun and energetic ways for students to connect learning at school with learning at home.
By understanding how concepts can be grasped through worksheets in school and also through game boards with a friend, students realize how learning is constant and on-going.
