Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
For many of my low income students, the library is the only place where they have books and access to technology. Every day, students come to check out books, do research on the computers, and enjoy each other's company during lunch.
It is truly a joy to see my students come to the library excited and ready to learn something new!
They are constantly looking for new books and other ways to expand their horizons. I can't wait to see what new adventures will come about with the supplies we will receive this year! Thank you!
My Project
We have recently starting a reading program for our 9th and 10th grade students and our English Language Learners. Students will read books and take tests using a computer program to see their reading level and their progress. We have started a reading group, during lunch, on Thursdays. Students are excited to come to the library and read during lunch!
It's great to hear a student say, "WOW, you have some GREAT BOOKS!" As we continue to encourage students to read, we need to keep the library filled with books they want to read!
Without a budget for my library, it is hard to keep getting books the students want to read.
