As a teacher in a low-income, high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to provide a sparkling, engaging classroom with all the bells and whistles. I want my students to love their school and take pride in their classroom and have the tools they need to succeed.
My students are eager, energetic, and spontaneous.
They like to move, they love to read, and they crave positive attention. Many of them are being raised in single parent households and receive free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. These things may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with the life experiences many of us see as "typical." I may not be able to control their home lives, but I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hoping to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic success. They are learning English as a second language.
My Project
My students are second language learners who do not hear or speak English at home. Many of these students do not have access to technology at home. This throwable speaker and microphone will help them share their ideas. This project will be a fun way for students to practice speaking and also improve their motor skills in the process.
My goal is to provide my students with a fun way to share their thoughts and practice their oral English skills with the use of the Qball Throwable Microphone and Bose Bluetooth Speaker.
This technology will help students discover their voice and share their thoughts with others in English.
