My students need a Speedball Artista Potters Wheel, wire ended trimming tools, and a beginners ceramics book in order to be able to experience throwing and creating ceramics on the wheel.
I teach in a productive, rural school system that strives to meet the common and individual needs of each and everyone of our students. In total, our elementary school houses grades pre-k through sixth with a total of around 350 willing learners who come to school ready to learn no matter their interest, abilities, aptitudes, and learning styles. A little over 50% of those students come from low income families making it challenging for all students to come to school with the resources they need. Our district is constantly striving to improve to ensure that we are providing our students with experiences that will prepare them to be productive citizens throughout their lives.
Specifically, I teach elementary art and it is important for me to always make sure they are provided with every opportunity and every resource they need to be able to learn, work, and grow as students.
My classroom is the home of 260 eager learners. I teach a wide range of mediums which include drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and ceramics in order to expose my students to a wide range of experiences. I often use differentiated instruction to ensure I am meeting ALL of my student’s needs.
My Project
The students will use the Speedball Artista Potters Wheel and trimming tools as an extension to our hand building ceramics curriculum. They are very excited about the prospect of learning a new way to create functional work of art such as clay bowls, vases and mugs.
A pottery wheel is a very important part of any class that works with clay.
My students are very creative and love when they get the opportunity work with and create three dimensional works of art. Clay is at the top of their list.! A pottery wheel would not only benefit the school but each student as well. Thank you so much for helping to support our students.
