This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school is a large Title I school where eighty percent of the students live below the poverty line. My students are academically and economically diverse. Many of them face situations that no child should ever face, like being temporarily homeless. Yet, they are also hardworking, enthusiastic young people full of potential and possibilities. They have lots of life and energy.
They love to learn, especially in new and exciting ways, and they recognize that they are part of a larger, generous community.
Please consider helping me to make this their best year ever!
My Project
This past year my students had a Q-Ball and loved it. It is a throwable microphone that is shaped like a ball so it can be thrown around the classroom. They especially loved using it to review because it turned that time into a game. In fact, it was so popular that when I would use it at the end of the day to review, students that were waiting to be dismissed in the hallway would hear my students having fun and ask it they could join.
Sadly, my class' Q-Ball stopped working one day when our school suffered a power outage.
Because the receiver had to be plugged in for it to work, the power outage must have damaged it. My students were beyond disappointed. Therefore I am seeking a new Q-Ball so that my new fourth graders will be able to have as much fun discussing issues and reviewing concepts as my last class did. Will you help us get a new Q-Ball?
