Our population is very diverse. We have many nationalities, cultures and abilities. Our children come to school eager to learn and with a thirst for knowledge in spite of their socioeconomic hardships. Our parents do all they can to provide our children with the supplies necessary to succeed. We have an in-depth special education program, a gifted and talented program and a dual language program. My computer lab is used by students in Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade.
An elementary school classroom is like no other place in the world.
It is a home for little ones for six hours a day. Teachers not only provide an education in math, reading and other school subjects, they provide stability, love, acceptance and support for amazing little people. Teachers educate the whole child. Personally, I strive to teach values, love and acceptance in my room as well.
My Project
Our children, like our grown-ups, need to feel loved, appreciated and good about themselves. Our school works hard to utilize positive reinforcement and self-esteem building through programs like PBIS, Peer Mediation, and Mutt-i-Gree. We want to make our children feel good about themselves every opportunity we can. It is our responsibility and privilege to not only teach academic skills, but also life skills and empathy. These bright, colorful vinyl decorations will go on each and every bathroom stall door in the building and offer an opportunity for students to feel good while reinforcing some fabulous messages.
"Why fit in when you were born to stand out?" "Do the right thing, even when no one is looking!" "It takes guts to be kind." Positive messages such as these will greet students daily for years to come, build self-esteem, and make our children smile.
My students may not always remember what I have taught them, but they will remember how I have made them feel. These decals will help inSTALL inspiration!
