I am the librarian in a high-need school. Nearly 90% of our students are English Language Learners many of which have only lived in the United States for less than 3 years. Most of our students receive free or reduced lunch.
Teachers are finding it difficult to keep track of the books that students borrow from the school library. As the school's librarian, I want all of the books that are borrowed to come back in good condition. Our students are avid readers who visit the library daily, but are finding it difficult to carry the books back and forth without dropping and damaging them.
We desperately need book pouches! Book pouches are like purses for books! Each classroom would get a few to use. When children come up to the library, their book pouches will hold their books and prevent them from being damaged. That makes the librarian very happy!
Your help will ensure that our books will last a long time. We will save money by not having to replace books each year and students can show how responsible they are by carrying their books to and from the library in style.
