My Project

Community involvement is vital to student learning and success. My students are new to service learning projects. However, this project will turn the tables for our kids. Instead of receiving support, the students will participate in a service learning project within their neighborhoods where they teach awareness to community members through literacy with a novel theme of Alice in Wonderland.

"Through The Looking Glass" is an escape room adventure where community members, families, and students will work together through literacy to solve problems through challenges and croquet!

We have partnered with a local agency that will also be preparing food and other decorations for a Community Alice in Wonderland Tea Party! Look out, here come our students willing to dress up and provide service to locals in the community to build rapport and emotional health through fun events with our unique theme!

This project will help our students share a love of literacy within the community while dressing up as characters from Alice in Wonderland, having a tea party, and working with community members on escape room challenges that are geared toward literacy and physical activity while also having fun! The project will support our students because most of them have never had "tea" or gone to a tea party before much less have ever played croquet. Students will get to experience a fancy occasion while dressing up for literacy!
