My fourth-grade students are a wonderful mix of ethnicities, abilities, and fabulous personalities! Over the past five years, they have been participating in the International Baccalaureate Program and are ready to show all they know through Exhibition.
These Title I students are hard-working, dedicated, creative, and in need of opportunities to see and explore a variety of perspectives.
As global citizens and learners, they are ready to tell their unique stories through the medium of photography!
My Project
As the culminating experience in the final years of the Primary Years Programme, students at International Baccalaureate schools experience Exhibition. Exhibition is a process in which students identify, investigate and offer solutions to real-life issues. At our school, this experience always promises to be our favorite, most rewarding time of the year.
As a provocation to Exhibition, we would like to pair with Jason Williamson's project "Through Our Eyes"; students will be given a disposable camera and asked to capture their own story through photographs.
The purpose of this learning experience is for students to see they have a story and that many people, things, and experiences have shaped this story.
We hope students will gain a new perspective and a sense of empathy for those with different circumstances and life stories from themselves. Throughout this process, students will be immersed in other's personal stories, many of which have carried a global impact.
