My Students

My students are super nerdy. I teach Chemistry Honors and AP Chemistry. My students are good at making me feel that I teach an important subject. They love the labs, particularly.

Many of my students will get a major in Chemistry and some will even pursue careers in the chemistry field.

But as I tell my students: There are many reasons to study chemistry, even if you are not pursuing a career in science.

Chemistry is the study of matter and energy and the interaction between them. It's fun!

Chemistry is everywhere in the world around us. It's in the food we eat, the clothes we wear, the water we drink, medicines, air, etc...

Chemistry connects other sciences to each other, such as biology, physics, geology, and environmental science. My students understand this and often take other science courses later.

My Project

A few weeks ago, a safety inspector came and told us that we were in violation of safety regulations because we kept chemicals in the lab "unprotected".

Both chemistry and biology labs require the use of hazards chemicals including acids.

Storing those chemicals requires the use of acid-safe cabinets.

These cabinets will help us keep the chemical both safe and available in the lab to be used at any moment when they are needed. We have three labs that are contiguous and depending on the lab activity, I (and my colleagues as well) use a different lab. This is why I am requesting three cabinets.
