This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Help three teachers bring the "light" to their students! I am the media specialist at a small, rural school of approximately 150 students, 93% of whom come from low socioeconomic backgrounds. I team-teach with the music teacher and the art teacher. I work two days a week (.4) at this school, and three days a week (.6) at another small school, where we all have LCD projectors and interactive whiteboards in our classrooms. I know the difference that a projector can make when it comes to displaying Internet sources, slideshows, and other multimedia content. Students are more engaged and are able to more quickly grasp concepts.
Unfortunately, because I am only a part-time teacher at this small school, I do not have priority when it comes to receiving funds for supplies or technology. I am used to teaching with technology and have developed great technology-based lessons over the years. Unfortunately I can't use them with these deserving students, due to lack of a projector.
I need ONE (only ONE!) LCD projector to share among our three classrooms. The projector will be used five days a week; however, none of us have classes on the same days, so there will be no sharing conflicts. The art teacher will use the projector with her classes on Monday and Wednesday; the music teacher will use the projector with her classes on Tuesday; and I will use it with my classes on Thursday and Friday.
You will make it possible for our students to enjoy multimedia lessons that better suit their learning styles and are more engaging.
