Students in my classroom are compassionate, creative, and love interactive learning. As fifth graders, it is important they have the ability to collaborate, have a choice, and comfort in the classroom in order to succeed. Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best varies.
As their teacher I work to incorporate different learning strategies, group work activities, and learning options to ensure each students needs are met.
My students need the ability to have a choice that also helps to engage their minds, eliminate restlessness, prevent distractions, and help improve focus and concentration with their tasks at hand.
My Project
One wonderful thing about flexible seating is right in the name: it’s super flexible. That means there are tons of options between stools, flexible bands, balance balls, and much more. And, of course, flexible seating should meet the needs of the students in the classroom. To help narrow down the options, we looked at several ideas on Amazon and example requests from DonorsChoose.org for flexible seating to figure out what the most popular options are for each grade level.
I believe the flexible seating will help to enhance the classrooms working environment.
For example, the constant movement required to remain seated on the balance ball chair engages the child’s mind, eliminating restlessness, preventing distractions, and helping improve focus and concentration with their tasks at hand.
The list of the classroom furniture I want is perfect for my students as it provides a fun and enjoyable alternative seating option and outlet for their excess energy to reduce fidgeting or get the wiggles out.
