My students need "take home" books to help them practice and reinforce the skills taught at school. These books are on their independent reading levels, so they will be able to read them on their own.
Welcome to my classroom! In this class you will see a classroom full of energetic and excited first graders. My students come from a variety of cultures, socioeconomic backgrounds, and academic levels. Our school is majority free and reduced lunch, and although we strive to get all the materials we need for our classroom, sometimes we just need a little help! Throughout the year I like to expose my students to many new adventures through reading and we could benefit from having some new and exciting genres!
We work together and encourage each other to achieve our goals as we become lifelong learners.
I am extremely proud to be leading this fantastic group of students.
My Project
We all know that reading is one of the most fundamental skills children must master to succeed in school as well as life. Giving children every opportunity to be exposed to text is one way we can accomplish life long readers. By giving my students take home books on their independent level, I am allowing them the opportunity to practice their fluency and comprehension. They will have access to many different titles and it will open up a whole new world of understanding and help build confident readers.
Practicing these early reading skills will help build the strong foundation these children need to be successful in their academic careers and will make super readers!
