Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

Little and big. Highly visible and invisible. They consume our daily lives. What are they, you ask? Why simple machines, of course! Simple machines are a major part of the curriculum at my school. Therefore, I am looking forward to making this one of the most remarkable Science units that my students will ever encounter. Through the utilization of simple machine kits, books, videos, and the Internet my students will become experts in this area. This will also serve as a way to tackle all styles of differentiated learning. The student who loves to read will find numerous selections to choose from in their simple machine class library. There will be a place for the hands on learner to build models of simple machines and the auditory/visual learner will be able to enjoy videos of simple machines in action. Our culminating activity will be when all the students create their own simple machines and help build the class web page on none other than Simple Machines! We are really excited about getting to work on such an adventure filled unit and can't wait to start. Help us get to pushing and pulling our minds to that dream.
