My students need flexible seating and resources for learning. Many of my Intervention students need to be able to move and to learn in a variety of ways.
We are a new school in Katy, Texas, that was affected by Hurricane Harvey. We opened for our first year, and a week later, Hurricane Harvey hit. The neighborhood that we sit in was flooded, and many of our families were displaced. Fortunately, our school sustained minimal damage. Throughout this school year, our enrollment has fluctuated as students have moved back home. We’ve also had an influx of temporary, displaced students.
With all of the changes, the need for math intervention has greatly increased.
I want to be able to have appropriate, effective materials that will benefit my students and increase their growth to grade level.
My Project
My Intervention students need as many opportunities as they can get to be successful. Many of them struggle to learn in a traditional classroom setting, and these stools and resources will give them the advantage that they don’t usually get. Being able to use flexible seating and non traditional teaching resources will allow my students to have more options to become the successful math students that they, and I want them to be! Having researched the benefits of flexible seating, I am certain that my students will be able to focus and learn during our small group lessons and instruction.
