Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach first grade to a group of creative, curious, independent, and very active 6-year-old students in El Cajon, CA. I want them to become life long learners and independent.

Even though many of them struggle at home, they come to school each day eager to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically.

I want them to have the opportunity to flourish and reach their potential. They deserve it and we should help!

My Project

I want to provide a diverse classroom library that will represent every student in my classroom. I have selected various books that I want my students to read and discover characters that look like them and do the things they love to do.

My sweet little first graders should feel proud of their heritage and skin color at all times and everywhere.

As I meditate on current events, I realize that I can create a more inviting classroom library, displaying books about their backgrounds and traditions, where everyone is included.
