My transitional kindergarten class consists of the younger kindergarten students.
Our school is located in a low economic area.
One hundred percent of the students are Title I and qualify for the free federal breakfast and lunch program. Most of my students come from families who do not speak English. My transitional kindergarten students are enthusiastic about learning and always try their best. I have seen their language, social and academic skills grow every day. They have shown me that they have the potential to exceed all expectations.
My students need height appropriate chairs. My young TK students are short in height and the chairs provided by our school district are too big for them. When they sit, their feet are always dangling which causes them to move up to the front edge of the seat and in many cases fall. My students need comfortable appropriate chairs that are tipping resistant and that always keep students safe. These young students are very active and cannot stay still. There was an incident in my classroom with one of my students that wiggled his body in the opening between the seat and the back of the chair and got stuck in between. The main reason I am asking for these new chairs is to keep my students safe from having another accident. Please help my classroom be safe and age appropriate.
