Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Chick" these cool students out! My students are a fascinating "brood". While they are in grades K-5 living with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and in a low-income area, their enthusiasm for science shines. My students have various communication difficulty, high sensory needs, and many exhibit challenging behaviors. They need materials that are hand-on, real life experiences.
Despite my student’s disability, they are always excited to share what they're learning and are constantly thrive off of hands-on experiences.
Through your donations, it will make many more of these experiences possible. I want to nurture their love for Science by giving them meaningful hands-on opportunities like hatching chicks.
My Project
This project will give my students a once in life time experience. I’m sure this is an experience that they'll hold dear in their hearts forever. Not only will they learn the concept of life cycles, but they will be able to watch it unfold before their eyes. My students will have the chance to develop responsibility and nurturing skills for the baby chicks.
Living in New York City, it is not every day that we get to see, let alone, grow chicks.
I believe my students will appreciate this experience and really grow in many ways from it. We are very excited to start this lifecycle unit.
