Our student body is over 1450 strong and attend an "A" rated school. We have students who come from all walks of life and experiences. They are a strong student body and many visit the library on a regular basis.
Books are often the only way many of our students will ever explore the world.
Our students love to explore and learn outside of our small community. Reading is something all of our teachers encourage and push students to participate in. Giving the a ride variety of genres they can choose from ensures more participation.
My Project
Our English I teachers conduct book clubs within their classes. These clubs really help our students with ADD, ADHD and dyslexia because they have support while reading. They depend on the library to provide the majority of these books for the students. Our students love to read and reading with friends makes it more fun.
Young adult titles that are relative to their lives will draw them in and make readers of our freshmen.
The books that I am requesting will be available in the library for students to check out. I am asking for ten each of four different award winning young adult novel: Sadie by Courtney Summers, Ghost by Jason Reynolds, Far from the Tree by Robin Benway, and The Poet X by Elizabeth Acvedo. The titles were all recommended by the students.
