The kids at my school come to school each and every day energized and ready to learn. We are located in the great state of Nebraska. Our school is not a Title I school, so funding for extra supplies is not in the budget. There are students with family members serving in the military, students who are English Language Learners, and many more.
The students love to read and need more books that they can read independently.
Kindergarten is an important year of school for the children.
It is the first year they are working together as a team, so every child can succeed!
My Project
The dinosaur counters will be used during math block to help with sorting, counting, patterns, and practicing the concepts of more and less. The use of manipulative allows the children to have concrete examples of many math concepts they will learn in kindergarten.
The nonfiction and fiction paired books will strengthen the students' reading by helping them practice their decoding skills on books that are at their reading level.
The books will also allow us the compare and contrast between fiction and nonfiction text.
The building manipulatives will be added to our STEM learning during center time. These Playstix will let the children create different structures while exploring how things go together!
