Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are hardworking, bright, young individuals. They attend school each and every day, ready to learn, and meet all high expectations. My students love challenges and face difficulties each and every day with smiles on their faces. My students come from a Title I school with a high population of English learners. Most come from a low-income household and have limited resources and experiences. To many of my students, their only chance of life-enriching activities are at school. They love school and I want to make this place the most enriching place for them!

My Project

My students have been all in with our STEM projects. They love the challenge and the hands-on learning, not to mention the friendly competition between classmates! Mostly, students love collaborating and problem-solving with their friends in the student-lead, project-based learning, and challenge that these STEM projects have brought to our classroom. To accommodate all of the students who want to participate, we have started our first robotics club, RoboCubs, after school!

Project-based learning in the STEM environment with LEGO robotics will teach my students to grow as problem solvers, inventors, and creators for the future workforce!

Because of the growing numbers of students, we need more materials! We need help with EV3 rechargeable batteries, chargers, along with the Gyro Sensors. These students will experience first hand at what it means to be little engineers and scientists to get to the next level of inventing, problem-solving, creating, and applying solutions in real-world settings.

Participating in the FIRST Lego Challenge will allow my students to come together to collaborate, test their theories, fail, and persevere to complete their ideas and projects. They will be motivated to work through their failures to come to a solution. My students will feel successful through their FIRST journey, thus getting one step closer to becoming Next Generation engineers and scientists!
