Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

I always loved science when I was in school. It was a time of day when almost anything could happen. You might get to use a microscope to see all sorts of cool stuff you never knew was there. You might watch butterflies as they made their journey from caterpillar to chrysalis to butterfly. We got to learn why things worked the way they did...and that was really cool. Fast forward 20 years. Now I am teaching in a disadvantaged school on the south side of Chicago. Resources are scarce and needless to say, materials for science are tragically almost non-existent. I want the kids in my classroom to experience the wonder of science that I did as a child. I want them to learn how the world works through doing experiments. I want them to rush home excited to tell their parents what cool experiment they did. I want them to have the opportunities and experiences every child deserves. I would appreciate any help you can provide in helping us acquire science kits.
