This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Hello! I teach third grade at P.S.169, a Title 1 school in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Most of the students I teach have limited experiences outside of the home. Their parents work long hours or cannot afford to take the children to museums, shows, etc. Trips the children take in school are so important because they expose the children to experiences that they would not normally be exposed to. In the past I have taken a camera on all of our trips so the children can keep a photograph of each event. However, this year I am hoping to let the children document the year themselves - by having them each create a Third Grade Scrapbook of their experiences. Each child will get a disposable camera of their own, and will create his/her own scrapbook full of experiences and memories. In order to do this, I will need scrap-booking materials - scrapbooks, stickers, stencils, etc. These materials would make it possible for my students to create a beautiful scrapbook of all they learned and experienced in the third grade - a book they can keep through the years.
