My Students

I work for an amazing school. Our students are more than amazing! We are located in an area of the high poverty level, but also very near a university. Our families are professionals, laborers, blue-collar workers, unemployed, disabled, even incarcerated and they all have one thing in common-they love their children and want them to succeed. I love the way our small community works together to provide for our students. They not only provide basic needs, such as food or school supplies but also work very hard to provide experiences. I love to see my students come to school with eager smiles on their faces and questions in their heads. They trust me with their secrets. They want to share their stories. Some come to school hurt, hungry, or worried. They deserve the best version of me that I can give every day, which is the reason for this project.

My Project

My students deserve the best version of me, every day. The Kagan workshop, Higher-Level Thinking Skills, will enable me to engage my students more effectively. I want them to be excited about coming to school. I want them to take ownership of their education and their future. And, I want to narrow the gap in their educational deficit and challenge the advanced.

I have previously attended a Kagan workshop on a different topic and it changed my world.

Kagan training helped me engage more students, more of the time, with more participation. I know with additional training, I will grow as an educator, which in turn, will increase student growth. But more importantly, their confidence as lifelong learners will be firmly established.
