My class is full of some of the most caring, helpful kids on our campus. They are the 5th graders, they are the leaders. They take this role very seriously. They are helpful, and smart and responsible. But what they love most is to get up out of their seats and create. They love to work together and challenge each other. This is where their real talent shines through.
I have so many diverse learners that shine in different areas.
It is fun to see different kids take leadership roles in these hands on, creative activities. I want all of my students to become thinkers, creaters, and problem solvers.
My Project
Hands on learning is something today's kids thrive on. They need to be busy thinking and creating. I am asking for three Ozobots for my students to see coding in action. We have participated in Hour of Code, and they have an interest in coding. I believe these Ozobots would really bring that coding to life. I am also asking for some Engino Discovering Kits. These kits will be a fun way to explore physical science using STEM. So much real life learning happens when these kids see a concrete reason and outcome to their work.
The skills of the future revolve around cooperation, communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity.
These Ozobots and STEM activities will enhance all of these attributes. My students will be so excited to work together to build these projects and bring them to life. Getting out of their seats and using their creative minds, and their voices are where their talents really shine through. And for some of them, they really need the practice is stepping out of their comfort zone and taking those creative risks. We are working for a better future right now!
