My Students
My students love to learn but many of them do not have the tools needed to learn from home. Giving them simple supplies to create meaningful projects or interesting novels to help them escape life's challenges would really motivate them to stay focused on learning as well as offer an opportunity to let their imagination soar.
My fifth graders come from all different backgrounds, but they all share the same love of learning new skills and concepts that is currently challenged with remote teaching.
With the school closures, I was not allowed back into my classroom to get anything. I was scrambling to get work together as well as books for my students to read. It didn't even enter my mind how many learning tasks we would need to accomplish. Stretching learning to the end of the school year is challenging but my students are putting their best foot forward. Having limited access to technology increases the need for hands-ons activities that will drive home instruction.
My Project
I teach fifth grade at a Title I elementary school. I would appreciate any help you can give in providing resources that can make learning from home less challenging for my students. Students do not have a lot of resources so the whiteboards and dry erase markers will provide reusable resources since they don't have a plethora of paper on which to work out math word problems. These resources will keep them learning even with limited technology resources.
My students are without essential learning tools for the rest of the academic year due to COVID-19.
My students were behind academically. Even though they have made a lot of progress this year, they need writing journals and math tiles to practice and maintain key skills.
