Mr. Washington from Atlanta GA is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need Technology at their desks to provide up to date statistics surrounding events taking place in the Middle East and Africa.

My Students
We start our day off completing a Bell Ringer.
The bell ringer guides our discussion for the class period. In addition to viewing media clips to help provide clarity on the culture of the various religions and ethnic groups, students need primary resources they can refer to to support learning,
My students represent students residing in downtown Atlanta.
Inman Middle School is a public school in Atlanta, Georgia, that serves a diverse population of approximately 1,100 students in 6th-8th grade. Our urban midtown Atlanta location brings together a wide range of socio-economic, racial and cultural backgrounds. We have students at all performance levels, necessitating differentiated instruction — as well as a large number of students served by Special Ed. Despite having the largest number of students living in transitional housing of any middle school within APS, Inman has lost Title 1 funding. This is a significant financial loss to the school’s operating budget, making it more difficult to fund even the most basic resources like copy paper, ink and school supplies. However, even with all of Inman’s challenges, our dedicated staff and hardworking students consistently produce outstanding work, in both academics and in extracurricular activities.
Studying Eastern Hemisphere is exciting because these regions of the world including Asia and Africa change daily. The textbook and materials provided by school districts can not keep up with day-to-day changes that take place in these regions. For example, ISIS control over parts of the Middle East change daily. The impact of terrorist on the freedoms of people all over the world are events that students find to be interesting.
In my classroom, I would like to arm (4) students daily with Lenovo Idea Pads
They will use this technology to corroborate information shared during each lesson. If the teacher or the class provide answers that the teacher is unsure of, students will use reputable sites to confirm or correct.
This technology will empower students to contribute to the academic atmosphere in a positive manner. This technology will also allow the teacher to continue instruction while students research appropriate answers.
In addition, with the upcoming election students can use this technology to keep the class informed on how candidate are fairing. Whether a state such as Florida, Ohio, or Pennsylvania is leaning towards becoming a Red State or a Blue State.
All students will have an opportunity to use this technology on a rotating model. I can imagine students waiting for their turn to assist the class fact checking.
