Ms. Sanchez from Gainesville FL is requesting educational kits & games through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a comfortable Think Space with a carpet, 2 pillows, fidget toys, magnetic blocks and tiles, markers, sensory sand, and a weighted blanket to relieve stress and increase focus.

My students come from families of low socioeconomic status. 100% of the students at our school qualify for free breakfast and lunch, as well as supper for our after-school students. We also have a pantry that supplies food to our most needy families. We provide for our students before, during, and after school and help families meet their basic needs.
Despite the many challenges they face, my students work hard at school every day.
They come ready and eager to learn. They get excited when they master something new. They have incredible potential to do great.
Our students come to school to do one thing, learn. But for many of them, they're carrying so much baggage with them to school that learning is the last thing on their minds. They deal with situations at home that no one should have to deal with, least of all the youngest and most vulnerable in our society. Teachers struggle to make the classroom a safe and welcoming environment for kids who are often in a state of fight or flight that is not conducive to learning. I want to create a Think Space in my classroom; a space for students to go when they need to, so their minds can return to a calm state where learning can actually take place.
A Think Space is a comfortable place in the classroom where a student can have some time alone to work through their thoughts and feelings.
They can take a break without disrupting the rest of the class or needing to be removed from the class. I have requested stress relief and sensory items so that students can rejoin the class with reduced stress and anxiety and be ready to learn.
Our Think Space will have a positive character world rug, reading pillows, and a children's weighted blanket for comfort. It will also have fidget toys for kids to let out their jitters.
I have also requested a marker and paper kit to allow students to express their thoughts and feelings creatively. Sensory sand and magnetic building blocks will allow students to channel their energy into building or creating something fun while authentically learning STEM skills through play.
With your help, my students will learn to manage their anger, stress, and anxiety in healthy ways so that they can get back to learning!
