My students need two digital cameras, three DataTraveler USB 2.0GB Flash Drives, and a case of printer paper to capture the learning that is taking place in their classroom so that candid pictures of student learning can be photographed, saved, and inserted into their monthly parent newsletter.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you think all high school students hate having their parents know what's happening at their school? If you do, you're wrong! I teach a lot of wonderful students who want to learn, even though they don't always show it. They know the key to their future lies in their education. I have taught ninth-grade English, at a low-income school for 14 years. Our entire school population is entitled to free and reduced lunch. Our high school has a large ESL population, and a large percentage of our students' parents speak little to no English, which makes it a struggle to communicate with them about their child's progress in school.
Parent communication is a major obstacle at my school site. In an effort to bridge the communication gap with my students' parents, my students are going to be creating a monthly parent newsletter that will be written in English, Spanish and Hmong. I see a very small percentage of parents at our school functions. One parent said in Hmong, "I'm embarrassed that I can't talk to the teachers of my children." It is extremely important to the success of my students that we open lines of communication with their parents so that they feel they are a part of their children's education.
To support the effort of my students to create a monthly newsletter to send home to their parents, I am asking for three jump drive sticks so students are able to save their typed news articles. In addition, we are asking for two digital cameras so parents can get a glimpse of what their children are learning, and finally, we are in need of printer paper to print the newsletter once a month.
You can give my students' families a glimpse into the daily lives of their children while they are at school. Your generous donation will help build stronger school-to-home relationships.
Thank you.
