My students read, read, read! Even students who start the year saying they really aren't too sure about reading end up as readers! Students love to look through our classroom library to find interesting books to read!
My third grade students are not only learning two languages, but also learning in two languages.
Students have literacy and math in Spanish for half the day, and also have literacy and math in English for the other half the day. Students have me for the English half of the day, and a wonderful teacher from Costa Rica for the other half of the day.
Our school has a theme of Global Learning, and we are proud to be global learners!
My Project
When I was in elementary school, I remember being asked this question: When you grow up, what kind of job do you want? Now as a teacher, I find myself asking my students to design, create, and imagine the possibilities!
We really don't know what is going to inspire an idea or spark the inner creative ability that is within us all, but in my classroom, I can create an environment so that happen!
I want to have books in my classroom library to inspire my students to tackle ideas involving engineering, inventing, creating, and designing! For learning to take place, students needs to feel comfortable to take chances, overcome obstacles, and learn from failure. These books tell stories of people doing those things!
