My preschool class is made up of students with special needs. It is the first school experience for most of these children. The children range from 3-5 years old and all have a variety of needs, such as, autism, developmentally delayed, Down Syndrome, etc. Some of the children also have vision and mobility needs. Our school is the largest elementary school in the county and is made of up of several at-risk children who attend.
It is a blessing to watch our children grow every day, and work so hard to reach their goals.
My Project
Technology provides opportunities for our young preschoolers to enhance fine motor skills, communication skills, and expand their vocabulary. The Think and Learn Code-A-Pillar will guide my students in learning about cause and effect scenarios. My students will gain literacy and math skills through interaction with the Tiggly Learning kit. This system will bring our iPads to life for those little hands.
These new pieces of technology will provide our students with developmentally appropriate activities to help them learn letters, shapes, and numbers through creative hands on manipulatives.
The Leap Frog Magnet Bundle will help our students build fine motor skills necessary for prewriting, help with letter identification, and the beginning stages of counting. These technology enhanced materials will guide our students toward a successful preschool experience.
