Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are working together to promote kindness and togetherness in all areas of learning.
As part of the Kind Schools project, we are creating a more supportive school community at OPS. We need colored markers, crayons and colored pencils to complete our project. We will be making posters to promote kindness.
We are looking for money to support our project and keep our participation in the Kindness Challenge. Our school was one of 61 schools in the country that completed and won the Kind Schools Challenge in the fall of 2017. This past fall we started a comprehensive recycling program and community outreach where we assembled 60 "Kindness Kits" for homeless in the area. This "Kindness Kits" were shoe boxes collected from students and items like candy, toothbrush, toothpaste, warm new socks and a thoughtful quote.
We are planning on using our money collected from recycling to make a school garden behind our school library for all grade levels at OPS to plant flowers, vegetables, and fruits.
My Project
We are working again on the Kind Schools Challenge. We need more markers, crayons, colored pencils to make signs to promote kindness and for civics curriculum. We appreciate anything that can make our classroom more colorful and our posters more meaningful about Kindness and respect. We have to promote kindness each day and each class period. Motivational quotes about being kind are helpful. Seeing your classmates artwork and their expressions of kindness are necessary. We need to make sure that we can promote kindness everywhere on campus. We are reminded by quotes that state "In a world where you can be anything, be kind." We are working on teaching our students to think kind and positive thoughts. Speak respectfully and purposefully to one another while always choosing to be kind in all things.
