This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"As educators, we are responsible for learning, not teaching." Checks for understanding are a great way to monitor our students. "Think it and Ink it" is awesome with our white boards, but the only problem is we have nothing to Ink it with.

The students at at our middle school face many challenges.

Most come from low-income households and arrive at our school with literacy skills below grade level. We have a large population of students who are learning English as their second language. Our school is a home away from home, and we are trying our hardest to help keep the students positive and productive, as well as attempting to bridge the deficit in education they arrived with.

My Project

The student will be able to use the Expo markers, erasers, and cleaner to ask questions and respond to questions on white boards. Many of students are very visual, and by using the markers and white boards they are more engaged. There are many various checks for understanding that can be done with these supplies.

I believe students will be more engaged and less likely to zone out on the lesson.

When the white boards come out there is a sense of excitement that doesn't come from just using their notebooks. More smiles....More learning!!
