My students need enough Legos to go nuts creating whatever they can think of!
This project expired on May 20, 2018.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
My students often do not have a lot they can call their own. Many of my students are transient, arriving and leaving all through the school year. Finding their emotional and academic way through school can be hard. It is getting harder as there is no longer an art room where the kids can dive into their work.
While they often don't have many things, there is something they have lots of - energy!
If their energy was electrical we could light the world!
Students in our high poverty school usually do not have the pricey Legos at home so their interest level will be off the chart when confronted with a big box of bricks! The great thing about Legos is that kindergarten through the older grades will use them, with their goals becoming more complex as they master basic building concepts.
The wonderful benefit of Legos is they lead children into understanding our engineered world.
Hands-on learning can't be beat for showing a child what works and what doesn't! If it falls apart you have to figure out what is going on, and the kids quickly learn the benefits of the skills of looking around, thinking it through, and trying again.
