Mrs. Arnold from Slidell LA is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need more than just having their classroom needs met. A Big Tab Nabi with a protection plan would increase student motivation, therefore resulting in greater academic growth.

want more than just the "basics". My goal is to put a Big Tab Nabi in my students' hands and to utilize it to engage them in robust, meaningful lessons. Daily my students use computers, which at one time were awesome, but now considered outdated and slow. Think Big, Learn Big.
My kiddos live in a small rural community and make up a student body of just over 200, of which is 95% are free lunch.
Our mission is to build a college-preparatory school for young children that focuses on individual students and fosters a lifelong love of learning. And what do kids love more than technology? This giant tablet would generate excitement, nurture curiosity, foster student centered learning and allow for differentiated practice of a variety of kindergarten skills across the curriculum. Budget cuts result in sparsely updated technology. The National Educational Technology Standards for Students states that integrated technology tends to have a long term effect on students' understanding and retention. Hence, it makes sense to be a facilitator of a digitally rich classroom that maximizes time on task, deepens cognitive investments and cultivates receptive, eager learners. Education thrives in an atmosphere that is challenging, fun and ignites intrinsic inquisitiveness.
The BigTab Nabi will enhance my endeavor to create a classroom of self-motivated, tech savvy kindergarteners that will become the movers and the shakers of their generation. The Big Tab Nabi is specifically designed for kids with over 400 features to stimulate a passion for learning, generate high interest between students' academic careers and to embark them on their journey of countless possibilities for their professional futures. E-books, logic games and higher order thinking games found in the "Game Room" on the NBT include the age old favorites like checkers, tic tac toe and other multi-player games. My kindergarteners would learn to collaborate with peers using the multi-touch screen or work independently on the Dream Pro Studio to create animated drawings or work on video editing apps. on the Big Canvas Art screen. A plethora of skills could be addressed, for either remediation or enrichment. Vocabulary would flourish with the boundless number of e-books available to students.
Technology is evolving faster as each day passes.
Some of the jobs my students will hold as adults are not even invented yet. Schools need to keep up with the growing rate of technology in order to prepare students for their future.
