Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Too many of my students are defeated by their own attitude each day. They hold themselves back when they should be pushing forward.

Our Middle School is a diverse high-need school comprised of just over 1000 students in grades 6 to 8.

Half of our student population currently receives free or reduced priced lunch. Approximately half of our students receive support services in addition to their core classes. Many of our students are not native English speakers.

My Project

This book "Thick and Grow" examined the power of personal beliefs, and the role they play in success. "What the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve" is one of Hill's expressions. How achievement actually occurs, and a formula for it that puts success in reach for the average person, are a focal points of this book. My students need this positive thinking model. By using this book as motivation my students can see themselves as successful and in turn work to be successful.

The future for my students depends greatly on what they think they can work toward and achieve.

If the kids think something is unobtainable they often will not even attempt it. This attitude needs to change. Help me convince my students to reach for the stars.
