Our students are hard working and have a passion for making music. We are in a low income district with limited funding but wonderful community support. The band program involves 57 students that enjoy the many opportunities involved with learning an instrument. The band program is open to all students in grades 5-12 and offers a variety of performance opportunities to students depending on their interest. The band students are always looking for new and exciting ways to improve the band.
My Project
Every band needs a complete percussion section. As the bands in our small school have grown over the years we have been in need of updated equipment. The snare and cymbal stands will help in replacing broken equipment and also give us the ability to have individual stands in both buildings. The multiple sets of different sticks will also aid in each building having their own set of sticks so they don't need to be shared between two buildings. The other auxiliary percussion like the triangles will also aid in both schools having their own equipment so when a piece of music calls for that instrument the students have them at hand.
The new percussion equipment would allow students in both schools to have dedicated instruments so they can properly learn how to use the instruments required for the pieces they perform.
Much of our percussion equipment has become very outdated and has been patched together so we can still use, sometimes unsuccessfully. This would allow students to have new equipment that will be usable and sound good enhancing their learning and performance on the instruments.
