My students need a subscription to RAZPlus-Kids to give them access to hundreds of interactive, leveled eBooks spanning 29 levels that can be accessed from home or from school.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a Title I school with 90% of our nearly 800 students receiving free or reduced breakfasts and lunches. Many of my students live in poorly kept, crumbling apartments and are able to come to our beautiful school for eight hours a day and catch up on their basic vocabulary, social and formal English, numeric and alphabetic knowledge and skills along with problem solving and many more skills we take for granted. These children are bright, beautiful and very eager to learn. When they leave me at the end of the year they will be reading, comprehending and retelling texts, writing their own books, adding and subtracting and so much more!
These children are the future of their family's climb from poverty!
We emphasize higher education beginning in my kindergarten class and they will move through our grade levels excelling at amazing speeds! I spend hundreds of hours planning for their success and problem solving any barriers that they may face. DonorsChoose provides such opportunities for us as a community to provide fun and unique higher level learning opportunities to encourage their rapid development.
My Project
I'm often asked by parents where to purchase readers on their child's reading level and I rarely have a good answer. Guided reading books sent home rarely make it back to school and are expensive to replace. Libraries are rarely visited by our population and books are expensive to buy. However, almost everyone has access to a form of smart phone or tablet!
Studies show that the more you read to your child the more you help the neurons in this region to grow and connect in a way that will benefit the child in the future in reading.
With your help I can provide a full year's access to e-books to two classes of kindergartners so that my students can practice reading anytime, anywhere whether they are at home, school or even in the car. This licence will also allow me to print books for each student! RAZ-Kids offers over 400 interactive, leveled e-books that students can listen to, read and even record themselves reading. They'll have no more excuses! We'll see some results!
