Mrs. Talley Matt from AZ is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a classroom set of books to do a book study on the Phantom Tollbooth! They've wanted to do it all year, but we haven't been able to get enough books for everyone.

I teach some very wonderful, tenacious students in the fifth grade in Phoenix, AZ. Our school is a Title I school within the Paradise Valley District. In our class, we enjoy learning and always try our best! Perseverance is key, and we also add in lots of music!
My kids came up with and abide by several class values: Inclusiveness; Respect; Integrity; Kindness; Confidence: Helpfulness; Friendliness; and Learning.
It is a pleasure to watch them help and encourage each other each day. Our class also proudly supports the Ohio State Buckeyes!
My students want to do a book study where they read, discuss and write about each chapter - Hooray! They want to read The Phantom Tollbooth - double hooray!! Unfortunately, we haven't been able to gather enough books - boo & hiss! I chose a classroom set from Amazon to rectify this situation.
Please help me light up their imaginations with this incredible book.
I remember reading it as a little girl and excitedly anticipating each new chapter. Book studies are a great way to teach children how to use a ton of reading skills, including how to visualize what they read and use their knowledge to infer, deduce, and think critically!
They will also work on their writing skills, as they'll answer prompts about each chapter and even write the first chapter of a sequel they'll create.
Another great skill they'll learn (that is truly needed) is how to converse with one another about their thoughts and ideas in a positive, constructive way.
Please help provide a classroom set so my 5th graders can enjoy this book year after year! (Also, please help me get the teacher guide!)
