Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a functional academics classroom. We are a special education self-contained classroom. We are in a Title I school, with a rich diversity in culture and backgrounds.
We have students with intellectual disabilities that place them several grade levels below their peers.
Each student in our classroom has an Individual Education Plan or IEP. This means that each student is receiving a tailored education, allowing them to reach their highest potential. We work hard every day to provide an engaging learning environment.
My Project
It has been shown that children who are given opportunities to read every day are able to perform better in reading than those who don’t. They also develop a broader vocabulary, increase their knowledge, and are introduced to a wider range of cultures.
In fact, reading for pleasure is more likely to determine whether a child does well at school than their social or economic background.
These books and flexible seating will help give my students the opportunity they deserve and need to read every day! With this set of Dr. Suess books, my students will be able to go on many adventures through the words on the page!
