When students enter my class, it is often their very first school experience. They are boys and girls from very diverse backgrounds, with varying skills and abilities. Our classroom community welcomes all who enter to grow with us as we sing, dance, paint, share, eat, and learn.
Throughout the year we have many celebrations to recognize holidays, birthdays, and the wonderful accomplishments of our students.
My goal as a teacher is to expose my students to new and exciting materials and programs, in order to spark interest and creativity!
My Project
In pre-k, we are learning about light, including the vocabulary of light, such as transparent, translucent, and opaque. These concepts can be hard for students to grasp without hands-on and meaningful experiences.
Having a light box and translucent sensory items, such as letters, numbers, and shapes will allow my students to play with light while using shapes they are familiar and comfortable with.
When we learn about opaque, we can put regular dominoes on the light box, and see how it blocks the light. When we learn about translucent, we can put a red or blue domino on the light box and see how the light passes through but does not show specific details. Finally, when learning about transparent, we can put clear plastic dominoes down and see the differences. The possibilities are exciting and intriguing!
Thank you our considering our class for your support!
