These Headphones From Today Will Empower These Readers for Tomorrow!
My students need individual sets of headphones for when they use the Chromebooks. My students also need the white board easel for math centers and pencils.
I teach 4th grade in a low-income school located in an impoverished city. I have a total of 20 students who receive free breakfast and lunch every day. Most of them walk up to school from the projects down the street where they live. My students are primarily African American and Hispanic, with a handful of bilingual students. They come from broken homes and divided families.
Working at an inner city school has allowed me to open my heart to my students.
They love to come to school because they know that I deeply care about their learning and well-being. Our district has no money for teacher resources and supplies, which makes it difficult to differentiate my learning activities.
My Project
These headphones will allow each student to fully participate and interact with the different online learning programs and online standardized tests that our district uses. They will be able to listen to the words that are read to them while using the Myon leveled reading program. My students simply cannot afford to buy their own headphones, and the ones we have right now are cheap and half of them have broken speakers and headbands.
The white board easel will be a versatile teaching tool.
My classroom has a limited amount of usable white board space on the walls. Not only will this give me more space to write tasks/activities, it can also be used by students in small groups to complete math equations or summarize their reading.
