This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are creative little people with amazing imaginations. They love to sing and dance. They have tons of energy, and there's never a dull moment in our classroom.
My students love to create and build.
We make projects as groups and on our own. We share them with one another, and they love to show off their work and receive a round of applause.
My students are writers. They share their opinions and tell the reasons why you should agree with them. They write about the family members they love. They write about having their own home one day. They illustrate and create beautiful images to go with their writing.
My students are my teachers. They live in a community with an extremely high poverty level. Gangs and violence are an issue, poverty is a fact of life, and several students are homeless. They teach me daily about strength, forgiveness, and resilience.
My Project
Our elementary school is in the process of a transformation. As an environmental magnet school, we have an excellent opportunity to become outdoor scientists. We have been provided with a beautiful campus full of great spaces to learn in the outdoors. We have an outdoor classroom and wooded area, and we have a beautiful wetland habitat.
These rain boots will allow the children to explore and learn in the woods and wetland without worrying about getting their shoes and clothes dirty.
Your generous donation would help us purchase footwear so we can go outside no matter the conditions to learn, play, and explore.
DonorsChoose is the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
As a teacher-founded nonprofit, we're trusted by thousands of teachers and supporters across the country. This classroom request for funding was created by Mrs. Smoker and reviewed by the DonorsChoose team.
