Every year when I tell my students that we are going to begin our unit on the Human Body, I hear a collective groan of boredom. I do my best to make it relative to their lives and their health. They have tons of questions and find as we go through the unit that it is interesting after all. They would love to have some 3-dimensional models of the various Human Body systems to help them visualize what's inside their skin. My wish is to start a collection of various models of the human body that I could share with my classes as well as the other classes in my school. To kick off my wish list, I would love to have a large 3-D model of a Skeleton and a life-size poster that identifies the bones. These materials will be used by approximately 250 students who range from Resource/Special Ed to Academically Gifted students. Most of my students have not had the chance to truly learn Science. Instead they have had to focus on Reading and Math. I would love to open up new worlds and ways of thinking by having these models for our school to use.
