Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In our class we laugh, sing, dance, joke, learn and grow together and nothing gets better than that. Teaching in an inner-city, Title 1 school my job somedays can be difficult, however, working with some of the most deserving children make my job SO reward.
My students hold a VERY special place in my heart, they are the reason I wake up and go to work every day and I want to give them everything that they deserve.
I work with students who are used to the basics. Same book, pencil, and paperwork every day. I want to be able to provide them with an exciting classroom environment and the tools for making learning exciting and memorable!
My Project
My project is to provide my students with a learning environment that excites them to learn. It gives them a sense of belonging and community, a place where they can feel at home.
Providing my students with a more comfortable and exciting classroom will not only inspire me to be a better teacher but my students to be better learners.
By placing a large area rug gives them a sense of home. The speakers will allow me to show videos, use online resources and occasionally play music to heighten concentration. Replacing my desk with a standing desk will not only introduce more space in my classroom it will give my students a sense of empowerment while they lead the classroom. Incorporating dry erase boards into my room gives my students a different way to work through problems, answer them and share with others. Finally, the Cricut will provide the most useful for my students. With this I will be able to create a multitude of things such as motivational wall decals and more importantly, it will allow for me to create instructional posters that are catered to what my students are learning. My students may also use this product during individual and group projects.
Overall this project is to help my students understand that learning can be fun and that the classroom can be a welcoming and loving place.
