Help me give my students their own copy of The Very Hungry Caterpillar!

My students at WPEEC are my heart, my babies! They are part of a culturally diverse school that services students and families from the low-income community here in Koreatown. They are a majority of English language learners with Korean, Ethiopian, and Latin backgrounds who all just want to learn while having fun and thriving. Though they are all part of a school that supports them, classroom space, learning materials, and resources are limited. Each of my 50 students has a unique personality and eagerness to learn no matter what!
My students are kind, compassionate, creative, and intelligent!
They are always eager to learn new things. They are natural explorers who love being outdoors. They have grown to be very curious by always asking questions about the world around them and leaping towards hands-on experience every chance they get. Through art, music, and cooperatives play, they are learning how to express themselves all while strengthening their social-emotional skills. The majority of my students' best days are spent here in my classroom. They look forward to learning and coming back for more. At the end of the day, some don't even want to leave.
This is an everyday book for the everyday kid! My students absolutely love Eric Carle's The Very Hungry Caterpillar! It's one of my favorites as well. This book will make a difference in students' learning because it helps them understand the concept of days of the week. It also introduces them to the beauty of reading through great illustrations as well as the importance of healthy eating. I will use this book to introduce lessons on colors, days of the week, literacy, and math. It also extends into follow-up lessons for health and nutrition! After reading this book, there are also so many follow-up activities in literacy, math, and art that students can showcase their knowledge and love! The best joy is that they will be able to take their own copy home.
